A 26-year-old single woman I like to think I live a pretty healthy, clean living existence. Of course, when I compare with the likes of (very talented) I Miss Winehouse almost like a nun, although admittedly I have tried to mimic her vocal stylings in the karaoke after a few glasses of red wine.
I still have 3 addictions, vices 3 if you like. These are (in no particular order): -
1) Chocolate. All types and forms of
2) EastEnders (I know ...)
3) Implementation of the obscene amounts of money on hair products
The first item on the list often meets the second Sunday afternoon omnibus extravaganza, however, as I regularly go to the gym the only thing I really need to worry about these two are perhaps a couple of hours I wasted in my life each week.
My third vice president is still (or was) a lot more problems and I have bank statements to prove it.
As we all know, there is huge pressure on girls my age these days to look good. Every day I read magazines full of gorgeous super model, tell me how I can achieve the latest celebrity look with a few easy to follow tips and some professional products.
and there lies the problem, we all want to look like our idols, but if we are not careful we can waste hundreds of pounds and more chasing the super model hair styles. The good news is, I've learned from experience that the investment in real product looking great should not cost the earth. So what do you really need?
OK, there's no getting away from it if you want to create professional style, you're going to have a quality, professional straightener. This is where you will have to invest a little money, and I would recommend taking the plunge and splash in the T3 Tourmaline straightening iron. They are not cheap, and will set you back more than 100 pounds, but there is a simple reason why this money will be saved in the long run ... You'll save yourself the wealth "hair repair"products!
heat styling is the biggest cause of hair damage and T3 are quite simply the best irons on the market to minimize the damage. In fact, when combined with the T3 Boost (worth spending £ 19.95 on) using T3 irons will actually help the situation and treat your hair as you style.
So, it's a big purchase out of the way and you have selected high quality iron will last for years. What else do you need?
Thermal protection spray? no
Illuminating reconstructors? huh?
There are 4 products that you need for perfect hair. quality shampoo and conditioner, deep conditioner and styling product you want.
It is worth investing in the mid range shampoo and conditioner (expect to pay around £ 10). Do not use a supermarket brand to save a few pennies it will be worth it in the long run.
I would recommend any product from Fudge, Joico, or Osmo Essence, but do some research and find out what is best for your hair type (ie oily, dry, normal). decent sized bottle (300 ml) should take about 6 weeks you, so you are looking at a price of around £ 15 a month for your shampoo and conditioner.
After a month, you should use a deep, leave-in conditioner on your hair and there are a number of products that will do the trick. You should expect to pay more than about £ 15 for it again and would recommend a range of Joico. As we only use once a month, this product should last you at least 6 months, so just looking at the average price of around £ 3 months.
There is an incredible amount of styling products available, but my advice is to not go overboard. Choose a light styling product that will keep your look in place without looking "card", you want your hair to move. I admit that I'm stupid girl and I like to use just a little wet wax spray to my hair under control, but really only on weekends. My styling products tend to last me about 2 months, so that the average spend of £ 10 to work on the monthly cost for say £ 5.
So, with an initial investment of £ 100 + on my T3 straightener my monthly spending is now down to under 25 pounds, which even my bank manager will not be too dissatisfied.
Now I can waste the rest of my money on skin care products ...
